Rebellious pencils

I have these days where my pencil hates me and purposely makes my drawings sub-par. Sometimes you dont want to be mean to this pencil, because it has served you well in the past and really its the only one you can find at the moment. But the little bugger has an attitude problem and likes to rebel.

That is my weird introduction to explain that for a week or so, everything that I drew did not live up to my expectations.  I had lost my inspiration.

Here are some of the drawings I did on those days ( I did not put them all up cause the others were not even slightly good.)

Now you may be thinking, "those are not horrible" and I agree, but they did not feel right or live up to what I had wanted to draw.

Understand?

Anyway, then I went to the mall yesterday because that is a place just exploding with inspiration! And you know what? Im so very glad I did. It got me excited again! A few people even came over and complimented me on them.  Usually I just get the creepers who walk by (thinking they are clever) and peek over their shoulder. But I know... I know!

Inspired by an old man with basically a hunchback and a long face!

The one called "eighteen flavors" was inspired by a poem from the book Where the Sidewalk Ends. Amazing book by the way!

So I am going to try and post more regularly, as I keep saying I will do.  I need to keep practicing!  My portfolio is due in less than a month.... EEEP!!

  1. Wow, your portfolio is due really soon!! That's crazy! You can do it though.

that old guy does look EXACTLY like ratatouille guy! Haha! And the pictures you did at the mall are all very good.

I understand where you're coming from - things not living up to your expectations. I feel that way a lot with my writing and it is HARD but I know you'll get through it cause you got mad skillz!
