Mermaids!

So I have all these drawings, that I havent posted yet, soo sorry!

These Characters are all from books.  The top one of Lenia (basically Ariel), and Margarethe are from the book Mermaid: A twist on the classic tale.  The other one is Helen from another book that turned out to be mediocre.

I died my hair red again! Let me say, it is good to be back! I missed having red hair. Anyway, the top pic is of me in the food court watching randoms, my hair is not that red, but I was wearing a top like that.

Some more random sketches.

Quick sketches of Ariel.

So in preparation for my Halloween costume, and a Disney fundraiser I have ordered my MERMAID TAIL online today! I am hoping it will arrive in time. It is a swimmable, fully functional tail.  I got it in teal (called Arielle) of course and am very excited!

Mall sketching.

Updates from sketching at the mall the other day.

In the top sketch, the man in the middle is the father of the girl.

The girl looking at her hand is just a quick sketch of the princess from the book I'm reading.  That is where the prince kissed her.

Mermaid: A twist on the classic tale.

I am reading a book at the moment called Mermaid: a twist on the classic tale.

So far I love it! It is quite a bit darker than say, the Disney version, but it is very enchanting all the same.  I won't ruin it for you, but at the part I am at right now, I don't know if I want this character to go through with something.  It's a big decision.

I drew this, based on the original story by Hans Christian Anderson.  I do not know if the mermaid dies in this one, lets hope not! I love her the most out of the two characters.

So basically this is a mermaid reading the story of The Little Mermaid.  Her sister does not take the story seriously, as you can see.

Out of these two characters, I am most like the brunette.  When I start reading something, I usually attach myself to the characters and am devastated when something bad happens to them.  When a book is really good my emotions tend to revolve around the part I am at in the story.  It's not always healthy, haha!

The blonde doesn't really get to caught up with books and that sort.  She lives in the moment and loves to be entertained.  A very outgoing sort of person.

Who are you most like?

Anywho, I am off to the mall to find inspiration for characters, wish me luck!

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

Yesterday, I wanted to do some life drawing of people with costumes.  Of course, I don't really have that at my disposal, so I decided to put on a movie, and pause it whenever I wanted to draw.  I ended up putting on Prince Caspian (Amazing movie) because of the costumes in it.

Here's what I came up with.  It was a blast, and now my fingers are itching to draw more.

So as you can see, there are two versions of Peter.  One before the Narnia air really gets in his lungs, and one after putting on his Narnia gear and clothing.  The first one is a bit exaggerated, but hey, that's cartoons for you.  Then there is Lord Miraz (the evil villian), Trumpkin (the dwarf), Lucy, and Prince Caspian.

If you have any movie suggestions (with great costumes) please let me know!
Preferably with great fabric, and interesting designs.

The Billy Goats Gruff.

Yesterday, I told my friend I would draw her something.  So I asked what she wanted.
A: I want you to draw me a ... Troll! or a Dragon!
R: I will draw you a Troll, it's easier.
A: ooookay!
I put my pencil to the paper and stopped.  A troll... How do I draw a Troll? Well, I guess they have large feet, and they are pretty short, with a big head.. Anyway, thats how Shoeshwapp the third was made.

After drawing him I remembered the story of the three billy goats gruff.  I had to clarify how the story went from my dad first. It has been so long, I had forgotten.

So I decided I wanted to draw the goats. I had also, in this moment forgotten what a goat looked like.  Hahha, so I had to look it up.

Here is the father.  Mother and child to come.

More fox drawings. I adore the Prismacolor markers p.s. so so so much! If you are an artist, I encourage buying them.

What childhood story was told to you when you were young?

Heffalumps and Woozles

Heffalumps and Woozles,
They come in ones and twoozles, but if they so choosles,
Before your eyes, you'll see them multiply.

I bought some prismacolor markers today and had some fun trying them out.
I absolutely love them!

Been reading more of the Winnie the Pooh book, and I'm learning so many interesting facts.  I have a slight obsession with Winnie the Pooh at the moment.  Just ask the Pooh on my bed!

This was when I was trying out all the colours.

Sorry the picture is blurry, but here they are.

Practicing drawing Vixey some more.

This is the only one I really like..

More mall people.  I bought myself a graphite lead pencil which I adore.
Most of these are done with it.

P.s. Can I just point out, I made the greatest fries today? Homemade!

Winnie the pooh and foxes.

Yesterday I bought this amazing book called
Winnie the Pooh: A celebration of the Silly old Bear
As you can guess, I was extremely happy to have come upon it.

I have only read the first chapter so far but I love it.  It tells you about all the history of the book, and the author. It even tells you that Christopher Robin (A.A. Milne's son) did not like being known as Christopher Robin. I was shocked to read this, and very sad.

Anywho, that same day I bought a lead graphite pencil, which is wonderful!  I watched Winnie the Pooh online and decided to draw some of the characters.

The other day, at the mall, I drew some randoms, but mostly focusing on gesture.

That same day, I drew a fox, that has now become Vixie and Todd's daughter.

She is nineteen in fox years, and loves adventure.  She wants to go out and see the world, instead of living in this one forest her whole life.  Eventually she meets either a gray wolf or a arctic wolf (haven't decided) and they fight constantly.

I cant think of a name for her really, any ideas?

This is practicing the anatomy of a fox.
As you can see I sort of love foxes..

Any name suggestions are welcome!
