The chick who was given no name: A children's book!

Something very exciting has occured!

Jillian, and I are turning my story I wrote a couple years ago in to a children's book!
She will be turning my story in to limericks, and I will be drawing the pictures.

We are just playing around with ideas right now, but here is some practice drawings I did for the fox.
We are thinking of giving him a Monacle!

A kitten I drew.

What is your favourite thing about a children's book?

Furries.

Even more drawings for you guys today!

I decided I wanted to draw Furries/ animals with more human-like qualities.

Feel free to leave any suggestions for drawings.

Marcus and Sasha

Marcus and Sasha had a rough past
Marcus and Sasha never did last.
Marcus and Sasha don't go for anymore walks
Marcus and Sasha don't have anymore talks.
Marcus and Sasha wont ever have kids
Marcus and Sasha have many forbids.
Marcus and Sasha will never share pasta
You see Marcus never did have Sasha...

Went to Rocky-point park with Karly today, and drew.  Saw a few dogs and got a tad carried away with the story between them.  Poor Marcus, so happy and non-understanding of Sasha's distaste.  p.s. the poem is meant to be funny not sad. :)

Here is the rest of the drawings from today and a couple days ago. Enjoy!

The time dog (his owner asked us for the time).

Also went to Share today (a thrift store), and bought
the Game of Life - Monsters Inc version!

 The Road to El Dorado,
(which I always have a craving to watch)

And the Emperor's New Groove!

Also bought this handy dandy water bottle from Starbucks.
(Notice the blurry background in the picture?  Yeeeaaah, thats nice!)

My gouache paint I bought a couple weeks ago.

What is the greatest thing you have found at a garage sale/ thrift store?

Wonder

The other day, I had the amazing opportunity to draw my friend in many different outfits.  It was like having my own personal life drawing session! (clothed of course)

Some days I wake up with this overwhelming-joyful-cant sit still-exciting-love of Disney, where I need to quench this thirst for Disney.  Really the only option after looking at all my past Disney pictures, is to plan a trip to Disneyland.  Haven't really found anyone to come with me yet, but that is a minor detail and I shall find someone.  It will happen.

There is just no other place that gives you that child like happiness exploding from your heart!

What gives you that child-like wonder?

Try everything.

I have started to read the Golden Compass and I love it!
Way better than the movie (which I didn't really like).

In the spirit of drawing characters from books I drew Lyra -

Some mermaids for your enjoyment.  It has been much too long since I have drawn them!

I went to the mall again yesterday and drew some randoms, which is always fun.
Sometimes though, I cant stay there for long periods of time because its so loud!

Then I decided to go to the library and pick up some books on watercolour.  Drawing environments and nature is not my strongest area so it would scare me to draw it sometimes.  However, yesterday I was determined!

So I drew these -

On this one I used watercolours, ink, pencil and gouche paint.

And last but not least, my fathers day card/picture thing -

Whats something you've always wanted to make but was always scared to, incase it would turn out differently?

Hunger Games

If you have not read the Hunger Games books yet, I would advise you to do so.  They are really good.  The first one is by far the best, but they are all good.

Lately I have been wanting to draw characters from books.  So I decided to draw Fox Face from Hunger Games.

I need to work on drawing things in perspective more.  So I drew the one above.  It just allows for more dynamic drawings.

More mall inspired drawings.

I like to make back stories for some of my characters like this guy.

What are some of your favourite books?

Oozing Inspiration

I always seem to forget how inspired I get by drawing people at the mall.  I rarely leave frustrated. There is just so much inspiration oozing out of each individual.  Usually I don't draw exactly, but get inspiration from passers by.

Here is a sketch. I did some more but they aren't worth showing and one I have to re-draw her lips.

I had originally edited and coloured this fully, but my stupid computer died and I hadn't saved by that point. I really need to learn to use that save button haha. It is my friend!

Also, I made my business card yesterday. I wanted it to be simple but striking.  I will get the paintbrush raised.  I love raised ink!

Anyone else like to suck the inspiration out of randoms?
I mean that in the least creepy way possible..

The Aquarium

Went to the Aquarium today! Soo much fun!
My friends Karly, Kevin and I drew some of the animals.

Yesterday I bought Gouache paint to make my cels with.
Here is the first one with the new paint.

Gideon-

Any requests for Cel art? Or what to put as the background?
I was thinking a background from Pinocchio.

Ink and Paint

I want to tell you a story about a girl named Ramona.
Don't worry, this is a happy story.

Once upon a time, in a town called the Evergreens, lived a girl named Ramona.  Now if you were to look in on her, you may have found her to be quite discouraged.  You see, she didn't have the money to buy gorgeous Disney art and cels online.  She would spend hours looking at all the incredible art work just to exit the page with a heavy heart.

One day she stumbled across a guy (on the internet) who made his own cel artwork.  All of the sudden, a spark of an idea started to grow in little Ramona's mind.  It grew and it grew until she could no longer think about it anymore. And what she thought was this -

I could make my own cel artwork... of my drawings and Disney drawings and mermaids and fairies and characters and THE WHOLE WORLD!!

She hoped on the bus in search of what she would need.  By the end of the day she had her supplies and started to paint.  She drew and she painted, she painted and drew.  She tested out paints and found what she wanted.  When she sat back and looked, a smile crept up.  A smile of joy and satisfaction, of happiness and determination.  She would make more and more of these until she could make no more.

And this is what she made-

So my story was a tad dramatic... heheh! However, more entertaining that way. I only made one today cause I was testing out different paints etc. The eyebrow looks odd cause the paints bled a bit. I used acrylics and added water so they weren't so thick. It works but I don't like that you can see the brush strokes.  I think Disney used Gouache, but I'm not positive.  Anyone know what paint works best?! I would most appreciate some advice.

The other day I read a fairy tale by the Grimm Brothers called "Mother Holle", I decided to draw the main character.  The first drawing is her at the beginning of the story, and the second is at the end, when she is showered with gold.

I want to start drawing characters from books more often.  I think my next project will be characters from the Hunger Games!  Such good books!
